First off, we have found in our careers that often the #1 thing holding back a high performing team is lack of clarity when it comes to the breakdown of Roles and Responsibilities. To that end, we knew from the start that we need to have a Responsibility Matrix as one of the foundational elements of the product.
We started with an analysis of 17 different Responsibility Matrices looking for the commonalities across 3 different domains; Activity Management, Organizational Design, and Decision Management.
The four roles that were common across 10 or more of the matrices were; Accountable, Responsible, Consulted, and Informed.
That being said, depending on demand, we may add ability to support additional Assignment Matrices through a configurable setting.
